    Your poll may have a definitional error. Conservatives are of course, strict constructionist and define cats and dogs based upon their biological construct at birth. Liberals of course believe that any biological definition is archaic and the psychological species identification of each individual must be considered. Therefore where as a conservative may force classify a dog as, a dog, the enlightened liberal will consider which species the individual creature self identifies. Thus, who knows what the liberals love.
